Here's How to Get Meghan Markle's Glowing Skin

She's 36 but could pass for an undergrad. Here's how she does it.

It's no secret that Meghan Markle has some of the smoothest, most youthful-looking skin of any Hollywood celebrity today. At 36 years-old, she could easily pass for a college freshman. Now, given how closely skin quality is linked to diet, her immaculate skin tone is surely thanks to her well-known wellness regime.

But, of course, a good facialist can also work quite a bit of magic. Meghan's is the London-based, A-List facialist Nichola Joss, and he recently shared all of his secrets for beautiful skin with Marie Claire. Read on to see how everyone's favorite new royal always looks radiant, and for more great skin care tips, check out 40 Ways to Guarantee Healthy Skin After 40.

Give Your Face Regular Massages

"You want to start getting regular massages from the beginning of your skincare journey, since it not only helps remove the tension in the face, but it also really helps improve the texture of when you massage with a good, clean facial oil," Joss said. Most of us don't have a dedicated at-home facialist (though that would be awesome), but, luckily, you can do them yourself at home.

Joss provides a helpful guide on how to do one properly: put a few drops of  Collistar Sublime Black Precious Serum and Lumity Facial Oil (or whatever your personal favorite it) into your hands and rub them together to warm the oil; hold your hands to your nose and take a few deep, calming breaths; massage the oil into your skin for one minute using your fingertips, with slow, circular motions from the middle of your face outwards; glide the oil under your chin using your knuckles in order to smooth and tighten the jawline; place the pads of your thumbs into your cheekbones and push up for some natural contouring; put your fingertips into the center of your forehead and push the skin up, toward your hairline, to smooth out wrinkles; use your palms to sweep the oil up the neck in order to tighten it; finally, sweep your palms from right to left across your chest, and use up any residual oil by rubbing it over your hands.

Start Early

It's called a good skin regime because that's precisely what it is: a pattern that you have to stick to day in and day out. Don't expect results overnight, or assume that a couple of days of facial massaging and moisturizing will undo months of falling asleep with your makeup on. This is especially true if you have problematic skin, in which case you should also seek out a specialist more often. "If you have troublesome skin, and you need some corrective work, like if you have acne or scarring, you need to start working on a routine…[and see] your facialist every two weeks to get your skin in the best condition you can," Joss said.

Don't Fall for the Hype

On that same note, don't fall for anything that promises to solve all of your skin problems overnight, because they are likely to contain corrosive liquids. Joss also recommends making sure you don't do anything too abrasive–like an acid peel or microdermabrasion–less than 3 months before a big event. The weeks leading up to a wedding or a ball should instead be focused on hydrating your skin.

4
Use a Jade Roller

Most of us don't have the money to buy professional cryotherapy equipment, so she suggests buying a jade roller (retail price $24.99), sticking it in the freezer, and then massaging it over your face to reduce puffiness, erase wrinkles, slim down the neck, improve skin elasticity, and revitalize Chi.

Stay Healthy

It bears repeating that maintaining a healthy diet is the real key to radiant skin. Obviously, that means avoiding cigarettes, alcohol, and other toxins that dehydrate your skin and deprive it of essential vitamins and nutrients. It's also a good idea to eat food that's good for your skin, like green tea, kale, chickpeas, and tons of fish (the latter of which helps you sleep, which, in turn, also gives your great skin; it's a happy cycle!).
