A new study, published in May in the journal Redox Biology and conducted by scientists at the University of Exeter in the U.K., suggests that older people who drink beet juice will see a change in oral bacteria, which has been shown to help cardiovascular health. The study, which used 26 participants ranging between 70 and 80 years old, found that people who consumed regular beet juice, filled with nitrates, had a higher growth of oral bacteria in the mouth.
