"Hamilton" Cast Surprised 9 Year Old With Heartwarming Zoom Performance
Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast surprised a young fan on John Krasinski's "Some Good News" YouTube show.
During this time of duress, actor John Krasinski put together his own version of a local news show on YouTube that is entirely dedicated to promoting "good news," featuring stories of volunteers and feel-good news that makes viewers' spirits soar. And the latest episode of Some Good News (or SGN, as Krasinski calls it for short) featured an amazing surprise from Lin-Manuel Miranda and the original cast of Hamilton for an adorable 9-year-old girl.
Krasinski opened the segment by featuring a tweet from the parent of a young girl named Aubrey who was not able to attend a much-anticipated performance of Hamilton in Jacksonville, Florida, due to the pandemic. Krasinski brought Aubrey on to the show—via Zoom, of course—to interview her and he also had multiple awesome surprises in store. "I have a deal for you: When it's all over, I will fly you and your mom to New York and you will see Hamilton on Broadway," he told the ecstatic 9 year old.
But that wasn't all. Then, he brought in his wife, Emily Blunt, to surprise Aubrey, whose favorite movie is Mary Poppins Returns, in which Blunt starred with Miranda.
But that still wasn't the end of the surprises. Suddenly, Miranda and the original cast of Hamilton joined the Zoom call to perform the song "Alexander Hamilton" from the hit musical to the incredible delight of little Aubrey.
Watch that moment below, which starts at the 8:27 portion of the video. (Be careful, you may get a little choked up.)
"If you can't go to Hamilton, we're going to bring Hamilton to you," Krasinski said to an emotional Aubrey.
It might have been even better than the show, as you can clearly see from Aubrey's face in the upper righthand corner.
