These Clever Costumes Prove That Puns Are All the Rage This Halloween

Make them laugh—and make them think!

We're just a few days away from Halloween now, which means we're in the height of costume-sharing season.

We've already had quite a few fails this year from online retailers. There was that "sexy" version of the outfit in The Handmaid's Tale that was so offensive it had to be pulled off the shelves. Then there was that Halloween costume of a girl who had been ghosted, which hit a little too close to home. And if those weren't bad enough, there's this "Influencer" outfit being sold by Urban Outfitters, which is comprised solely of items you almost definitely already own.

But on the upside, there are plenty of people who are totally winning Halloween already. There's this mother and son who are going viral for dressing up as  T'Challa, king and protector of the fictional African nation of Wakanda, and his mother, Queen Ramonda.

As well as some couples' who are rocking really great outfits with social commentary.

But it looks like the rage this year is to create a costume that is original, clever, and most importantly, punny.

There's this mashup of Tomb Raider's Lara Croft and high school junior Lara Jean Covey from Netflix's new shot To All the Boys I've Loved Before.

There's Ruth-Bader Ginsburg meets the Bee-Gees.

"Plant Parenthood."

Cereal Killer, of course.

If your name is Mark, you absolutely must go as "Question Mark" and speak only in questions.

And if you're looking to get a little racy, you can always go as "Reverse Cowgirl."
