Google's "Year in Search" Video Is Here and It Will Make You So Emotional About 2018

Talk about a montage!

If there's one thing you can say about 2018, it's that it was an action-packed year. We lost luminaries like Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain to suicide. We became even more polarized by politics. We withstood wildfires and floods and other natural disasters. But, according to this moving 2-minute video from Google about the biggest search trends for the year, we looked for good amid the rubble. We looked up how to be a good citizen, a good dancer, a good kisser, a good listener, a good role model, a good friend, a good human being. We looked for ways to be better, and we found them.

After all, there are so many stories from this year that reminded us of all the good of humanity. These two friends who refuse to be divided by the fact that one is a Republican and the other is a Democrat. The social media users who scrolled through hundreds of posts to help reunite owners with their lost pets following the Camp Fire in California. The town in Ohio that celebrated Christmas early for one terminally-ill kid. The woman who crafted an elaborate Harry Potter-themed proposal for her girlfriend. Even the Twitter users who took the time out to help a woman find her lost scarf are a tribute to all the kindness in the world.

As the dearly-departed Bourdain says in the video, "Life is good. The world is filled with people doing the best they can, who love their kids and would like to live their lives with a little dignity and hope, just like everybody else."

So far the video has 150,000 views (and climbing).
