The "Friends" Fountain Is Also in "Hocus Pocus" and Our Minds Are Blown
How did we never catch this before?
Any millennial who loves Halloween has probably watched the 1993 film Hocus Pocus more times than Thackery Binx has been brought back to life. And you'd be hard-pressed to find an '80s or '90s kid who hasn't seen the opening credits to Friends just as many times. Which is why the little-known connection between the spooky classic and beloved sitcom is blowing millennial minds everywhere.
Of course, if you're of a certain age, you know the fountain that the Friends stars sit around as The Rembrandts' "I'll Be There for You" plays at the start of each episode, right?
And you remember that scene in Hocus Pocus where Max, Allison, Dani, and Binx think they've managed to kill the Sanderson Sisters and run through a local park to celebrate?
Well, take a look at the fountain. Does it seem familiar?
Yep, it's the same fountain, and we're only just now figuring this out (as BuzzFeed pointed out).
Needless to say, it's quite the revelation.
The real fountain isn't in New York City or in Salem, where Friends and Hocus Pocus are set, respectively. Instead, it's located on a lot at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. (And, yes, you can visit it and take photos.)
Now you know! And if you're not OK, we get it.
