Emily Ratajkowski Defends Sexy Instagram Posts—Photos

“I want to do what I want to do.”

The Weinstein scandal, and the flood of allegations against other men who have used their power to abuse women that followed, has been a watershed moment in American culture, one that has made us confront questions that we should have been asking for a long time. One question that it has resurfaced, however, that should be left dead and buried is whether or not women are essentially "asking for it" when they wear something provocative or post sexy photos on social media.

On this, actress/model Emily Emily Ratajkowksi, who is by no means a stranger to sexy Instagram posts, recently took a strong stand.

"In the wake of the Harvey fallout and women coming forward with incredible amounts of sexual harassment cases, I have been so disappointed to hear women talk about 'modesty' and 'our responsibility,' as if we need to, yet again, adjust to make it 'easier' for the rest of the world," Emily Ratajkowski told The New York Times. "I'm tired of having to consider how I might be perceived by men if I wear the short skirt, or post a sexy Instagram. I want to do what I want to do."

It's by no means the first time Ratajkowski has had to speak out over a woman's right to express her sexuality without being vilified. When Kim Kardashian got shamed in March 2016 by posting a very naked bathroom selfie, Ratajkowski posted one of her own in solidarity.

Hopefully, EmRat won't have to make this argument again for people to finally get the point.
