Emilia Clarke on Getting Nude in Game of Thrones
The mother of dragons has very strong words for the prudes among us.
One of the most talked-about aspects of HBO's Game of Thrones is all the nudity. But that's precisely what Emilia Clarke, otherwise known as Daenerys Targaryen, doesn't want you to talk about anymore.
As their December/January covergirl, Clarke recently opened up to Harper's Bazaar about how she really feels regarding the naked hype as the hit show enters its final season:
"I'm starting to get really annoyed about this stuff now because people say, 'Oh, yeah, all the porn sites went down when Game of Thrones came back on.' I'm like, 'The Handmaid's Tale?' I […] love that show, and I cried when it ended because I couldn't handle not seeing it. That is all sex and nudity. There are so many shows centered around this very true fact that people reproduce…People f*** for pleasure—it's part of life."
Now, granted, one could argue that this is at least in part because The Handmaid's Tale doesn't fetishize nudity in the same way that Game of Thrones does, but we get her point. It's just boobs, people, let's move on!
