Here's the Odds-On Favorite to Play Harry and Meghan's Wedding

Sir Elton John just canceled two concerts to make room for the wedding.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have yet to send out the invitations for their May 19th wedding at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, but at least one special guest seems to have already gotten official word from the couple to save the date.

Sir Elton John has just canceled two Las Vegas concerts on the same May weekend as the royal nuptials, which surely means he's attending—and perhaps may even perform at the reception.

John told The Sun last month in New York he very much hoped to be at the ceremony and was just awaiting word from the couple. When asked if he was going to be a guest at the wedding of the year at the time he said, "I don't know. I haven't even been—No one's been asked."

It appears all that has changed. John was due to play concerts at Caesars Palace on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19, but has now canceled the dates so he can fly back for the ceremony that Saturday.

John and his husband David Furnish attended the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, and John, of course, famously performed a rewritten version of his hit "Candle in the Wind" in Princess Diana's honor at her funeral in 1995.

John, who was a long time friend of the princess, has seemingly grown closer with both William and Harry as they've gotten older. He and Harry share a commitment to AIDS charities. Last year, he appeared in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy when he accompanied Harry to the London Lighthouse Centre, a facility for people with AIDS to discuss the impact Diana had in raising awareness about the disease. "She had that great ability, which her son Prince Harry has inherited, where she could walk into a room of people and make them feel at ease, as if she'd known them all her life, or all their life," said John in the film.

The singer has said he is very much looking forward to seeing Harry marry Markle. "It will be nice because I love him very dearly." And to learn more about the impending nuptials, read up on the 10 Things We Know About Meghan's Wedding Dress.
