The FDA Just Recalled 21 Popular Dog Foods for This Terrifying Reason

Humans have always been told to watch what they eat—but the same rule goes for our four-legged friends, too. And if you're feeding your dog some select Sunshine Mills products, then your pooch could be in peril. The United States Food and Drug Administration just announced that it has recalled 21 popular dog foods that contain high levels of aflatoxin, a mold byproduct that could hurt your pet if they eat a lot of it.

Your pup could be experiencing aflatoxin toxicity (aflatoxicosis) if it becomes sluggish or tired, loses its appetite, vomits, gets diarrhea, or has a yellow color in their eyes or gums. If you notice these symptoms, you should take your pet to the veterinarian immediately.

This isn't the first time Sunshine Mills has come under fire for its pet products. In September, three of its dog food brands were recalled for unhealthy levels of aflatoxin. The company also recalled Nature's Menu Super Premium dog food (the chicken and quail blend) in August because of salmonella concerns.
