These 27 States Are Starting to See COVID Deaths Surge
"The next six to 12 weeks are going to be the darkest of the entire pandemic," one expert warned.
The month of October has brought about a drastic shift in the status of the coronavirus pandemic across the U.S. The past four weeks have seen more than half of the states in the union surpass their previously set records for most new cases in a single day, CNN repots. Now, the spike in new patients is also leading to an increase in an even more tragic national statistic: More than half of U.S. states—27, to be exact—are seeing COVID deaths surge.
Sadly, medical experts are witnessing their warnings of a fall and winter surge bringing the deadliest days of the pandemic become a reality. "The next six to 12 weeks are going to be the darkest of the entire pandemic,” Michael Osterholm, MD, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said on Meet the Press on Oct. 18.
