Christie Brinkley's Triumphant Return to the Beach
And, yes, it’s something to behold.
It may be over three decades since she drove a cherry red Ferrari directly into our hearts, but Christie Brinkley, at age 63, is proving that age really is just a number. (Or that people everywhere should seriously consider investing in a Chuck Norris Total Gym.)
Today, Brinkley caused something of a social media frenzy when it was revealed that the former swimsuit model is officially becoming the Michael Jordan of supermodels, and coming out of retirement to to appear in Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue for the first time in years—and she's looking, well, have a look for yourself:
In her caption, Brinkley heralds her return to swimsuit glory: "good things come in packages of every size and we do not come with an expiration date." And if you're wondering who the others are in the photograph, know that those are her two daughters, Alexa Ray Joel and Sailor Brinkley Cook.
"This is a real full circle moment for me," @christiebrinkley said through tears on set. "I can get very emotional about this. How many years ago, I was that insecure girl hoping that I would be good enough for the magazine. So to see my daughters now having the same thoughts I had, and to be able to see them actually be there on the job, was definitely a big moment."
"My first thought was, 'At my age? No way!'" she told People, about the shoot.
We're glad someone changed her mind.
