"They say don't meet your heroes. I say, 'Don't get punched by them.' "

Today, Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford went on British talk show This Morning to promote their upcoming film, Blade Runner 2049. In basically zero time flat, it became abundantly clear that this wasn’t going to be your average junket-style interview.

While getting miked up, Gosling asks, in idle chitchat, if the delightful interviewer Alison Hammond had ever seen the original Blade Runner film. Hammond unapologetically—and refreshingly—says no, and then goes on to deride the film as “bleak, dystopian, an absolute nightmare, to be honest,” before quipping, “That’s just my interview technique.” And then something astonishing happens.

Harrison Ford laughs. A lot.

Yes, Harrison Ford, a star so famously cantankerous—and so famously allergic to celebrity interviews—that some magazines have launched entire think-pieces exploring his grumpiness. Yes, the same guy who once wore a shirt that says, “I’m Han Solo, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner. I’m f*cking Over It!” And yes, the same guy who once told UK’s The Mirror, “Am I grumpy? I might be. But I think that maybe sometimes it’s misinterpreted. I’ve always been an independent son of a b*tch, so if I’m grumpy, then call me grumpy.”

Which, of course, sounds really grumpy.

So it’s completely refreshing to see that America’s favorite private pilot is not only still alive but also having a great time out on the PR circuit. From there, the interview careens off the track. There’s a musical duet. Ford makes fun of Gosling’s sweater. Gosling pours a Scotch—and then pretends to storm off stage.

Perhaps there’s a lesson to be learned here. If Harrison Ford wants to know if you’ve seen one of his iconic films, feel free to say no. And not only that, tell him it sounded like too much of a nightmare. It appears to do the trick.

Here’s the full video here. Enjoy.

Blade Runner 2049 is out in theaters tomorrow.
